NYC 5K RUN/WALK 2026 - WAIVER AND RELEASE OF LIABILITY

READ CAREFULLY BEFORE SIGNING. THIS IS A LEGALLY BINDING AGREEMENT.

In consideration of being permitted to participate in the NYC 5K Run/Walk (the "Event") organized by the New York Ethio Athletic Association ("NYEAA"), I, the undersigned participant, acknowledge and agree to the following terms:

1. ASSUMPTION OF RISK: I understand that participating in a running/walking event involves inherent risks including physical injury, muscle strains, falls, dehydration, heat exhaustion, cardiac events, and other unforeseen hazards. I voluntarily assume all such risks.
2. RELEASE OF LIABILITY: I hereby release, waive, and discharge the NYC 5K organizing committee, NY Ethio Athletic Association, NYC Parks Dept., Van Cortlandt Park staff, sponsors, volunteers, and all associated parties from any claims arising from my participation.
3. MEDICAL FITNESS: I certify I am physically fit to participate and have not been advised by a physician to avoid strenuous activity.
4. PHOTO & MEDIA RELEASE: I grant permission for photos/video taken of me to be used for promotional purposes without compensation.
5. RULES & CONDUCT: I agree to abide by all Event rules. Violations may result in disqualification without refund.
6. NO REFUND POLICY: Registration fees are non-refundable. Organizers may reschedule or cancel due to unforeseen circumstances.
7. GOVERNING LAW: This waiver is governed by the laws of the State of New York.
